Note: Hello! As I’ve mentioned, I will be taking a one to two month hiatus due to exams and my wanting to rethink my vision for Psyched Mindscape. This means that this will be my last blog for some time! I’m sure for a lot of us, the coming month will be busy and stressful. I want to remind you that it will be alright! Study hard and good luck to you. Let’s end this year great :)
With exam season comes a lot of stress. You’ve worked extremely hard to get to where you are today, and you should be proud of yourself. Now is the time to put your knowledge to the test. Here are 10 helpful reminders to de-stress before an exam so your nerves don’t get in the way.
1. Don’t cram the night before.
I know it sounds counter-productive, but cramming will not do you anything good. You’ve already done whatever studying that can be done, and no amount of last minute cramming will change that. So, just relax.
2. Get a good night’s rest.
8 hours is the preferred amount of sleep, but if you can’t, just get as much as you can. You don’t want to be sitting through the test all tired and groggy.
3. Stretch and relax your muscles.
Do some light stretching when you can. Ease up some of that tension. Letting go of some of that tension will leave you feeling a lot better.
4. Listen to music.
Music has powerful effects on us. Listening to some calming music can help soothe your nerves, or just listen to your favorite songs. They’re bound to calm you and make you feel less stressed.
5. Watch something that makes you laugh.
There are plenty of hilarious pet videos out there to give you that happiness boost you need. Or just relax and enjoy something.
6. Take a shower or bath.
Freshening up a bit can help you clear your mind and relieve stress.
7. Write down what you need to do.
If there are a lot of things on your mind, jot down them somewhere so you don’t forget, and also so you don’t keep stressing about having to remember everything.
8. Pack your bag the night before.
Have everything prepared the night before. Don’t stress yourself out in the morning with the frantic rushing and worrying. Put your mind at ease.
9. Eat a good breakfast.
Make sure you have something to eat so your stomach doesn’t growl later on. You don’t want to be constantly thinking about food during the exam. Fuel your body well, and you’ll be able to do well on the exam.
10. Take a deep breath and believe in yourself.
It’s normal to be nervous. That’s because you care. Just remember to breathe and calm down. Don’t let your nerves get in your way of succeeding. You’ve worked hard, so it’s time to believe in yourself.

I’ve personally done all the above, and I encourage you to do the same. It really does help. To everyone taking exams, good luck to you! Remember to sleep well, eat well, and take a deep breath. You can do it! I’ll be cheering you on.
